Isaie Lebourgeois was reported in 1625 as a ‘maistre chirurgien’ (cf. Carel, 1886, p. 150). His address can be gathered from a letter to Oldenburg of 6 June 1672 (Correspondence, vol. 9, pp. 69–72). Oldenburg was informed that letters directed to Lebourgeois through an intermediary had to be addressed in the following manner: ‘A bourgeois Medecin le Jeune a Caen’ (To doctor Bourgeois the younger at Caen). At the post office, those letters had to labelled as mail destined for Normandy. According to another letter from the Caen historian Jacques Moisant de Brieux (1611–74) sent to Oldenburg (Correspondence, vol. 9, p. 671). Lebourgeois served as a intermediary in Oldenburg's letter to Spinoza from June 1675 (1675.06.08, Ep 61).
