Hofwyck

Drawing (1681) by Christiaan Huygens of the lordly Huygens residence Hofwyck in Voorburg. The country house was designed by his Constantijn Huygens Sr. Spinoza visited Christiaan at Hofwyck before the latter moved to France in April 1666. Its location is about a ten-minute walk from the house in the Kerklaan in Voorburg where Spinoza himself rented rooms. (Leiden, UL, ms. HUG 9, fol. 5r).
